The Brooch Details

For this Manhattan brooch it was very important to show the World Trade Center Towers, but to set them apart, we made them in platinum. We didn't include the Empire State and Chrysler buildings due to their inherent pointyness but they could be placed by request. We do have the iconic form of the United Nations building along the East River but generally we have gone for the feeling of the city rather than try to replicate specific localities. The brooch measures 3" X 1 1/4" and is fabricated entirely by hand in 18K yellow gold with the Central Park tourmaline set in 22K gold. The tourmalines in the brooches will weigh between 3 and 3.5 carats. Because of it's strength we use white gold for the pin stem. The pin fits into the Liberty Torch screw clasp which is very simple to operate. The brooch can also be worn as a pendant by running the chain behind the pin stem. The brooches will be signed "Manhattan #1" etc. along with the artist's hallmark.
